Open Source Community
The OSAMS project is a free and open source project licensed under a creative commons 3.0 license with attribution. Any healthcare institution with a current subscription to the Australian Therapeutic Guidelines is eligible to receive the project files at no cost.
Flexible Design
All aspects of the application are customisable by the health service. We only ask that improvements made are fed back to the open source community for implementation at their sites.
Simple Approval Management
The application approval system requires no complex infrastructure. It works on a shared algorithm between the code generator and checking page, this means it can be deployed on a server anywhere, with no need for a designated database.
Focus on Clinical Decision Support
Many antimicrobial approval systems request a choice of antibiotic, then require justification for the choice made. This system of approval is problematic. It turns the application into a regulatory tool only, without opportunity to provide education and guide best practice.

Application Awards
The OSAMS project has received multiple awards for improving antimicrobial stewardship
Nomination for Exemplary Clinical Practice by the Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Health Care
In 2021 the TEAMS (Top End Antimicrobial Stewardship) application was nominated for exemplary clinical practice by the assessors from the Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Health Care. The accreditation review found that the application was:
